Karen Miller

Primary assistant teacher

Spanish Teacher

SINCE 2019

Sitting through a language class with Mrs. Karen Miller (Ms. Karen) is great fun. Ms. Karen brings singing, energy, and fun to learning Spanish at New World Montessori. Introducing children to language in creative ways with visuals, games, songs, and laughter keeps students engaged and asking questions about cultures, languages, themselves, and our world.

From the moment she was exposed to Montessori practices and methods, even as a young woman, she knew that it was where she wanted to be. Karen has worked both in Mexico and in the United States teaching language and caring for children. She has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Management and is hoping to get a Montessori certification to become a full-time teacher one day.

The New World kids see Ms. Karen not only during Spanish class but also during our after-school care program. Her favorite part of the school day is greeting students and being part of their learning adventure for the day.

What are you proudest of?

I love being bilingual. It took years of practice starting when I was 9 years old. Being able to communicate with a large percentage of this world is something I am very passionate about. I want to share that passion with others.

What are you happiest doing when you are not teaching?

I am happiest sharing time with my husband, baby, and two pugs and going on walks in our neighborhood. I also love to exercise and dance.

What is your favorite Children’s book?

My favorite book is called “The Fearless Octopus” which is about an Octopus confronting its fears and not living the rest of its life hiding in fear.

I like to get the students engaged in learning, both by visuals and by singing songs that focus on that day’s lesson.”

Read about enrollment, tuition, discounts and options for before and after-school care. Learn about how classroom supplies are included in tuition and other class offerings including Spanish and music.

We understand the importance of nurturing a child’s natural ability to care for others, help those in need, and learn through first-hand adventures. Our students know the impact they can have locally and globally.

The Montessori approach respects the needs of each child, allowing them to develop at their own pace. This increases confidence and creates opportunities for rich exploration at every stage of learning.
